TelstraSuper recognised as Employer of Choice for Gender Equality for fourth consecutive year

We're pleased to announce that  for the fourth year in a row, TelstraSuper has been recognised as a 2021-2023 WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE).

The EOCGE citation is a voluntary leading-practice recognition program designed to encourage, recognise and promote an organisation’s active commitment to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces and demonstrates our commitment to making our workplace equal.

“We’re incredibly proud of achieving our citation once again this year,” TelstraSuper CEO Chris Davies said.

“Industry awards and accreditations are important and help us strive for better member experiences and excellence across a number of areas. The WGEA citation is one I’m particularly proud of because it recognises the important work we’ve done internally to drive change across gender equity in our workplace.”

EOCGE citation holders are closing gender pay gaps faster, have a higher proportion of women in management, a stronger pipeline of women moving into senior management, a higher representation of women on their boards and a higher proportion of female employees working full-time than other employers in the WGEA dataset.

This year, there was also a focus on achieving gender equality despite the upheaval and disruption caused by the impacts of the two-year COVID-19 pandemic.

WGEA Director, Mary Wooldridge, said, “Critically, these organisations are delivering on a formula that sees better support structures in place for working families; stronger actions to address pay inequalities; and strategic recruitment and promotion practices that help to encourage the full participation of women at work.”

Along with the citation Mr Davies has renewed his role as a WGEA Pay Equity Ambassador, the only super fund CEO on the ambassador list, committing to playing a leadership role in the business community and broader public.

“There’s no denying that there’s still work to be done on the gender pay parity,” Mr Davies said.

“We’ll continue to challenge the systems in place to close the gaps and hopefully inspire other organisations to do the same. Importantly, we know that a workplace where all people feel valued and empowered contributes to a better culture and a better employee experience, and creating those experiences is part of our mission at TelstraSuper.”
